How I got here...

My journey into the space of pregnancy, birth, motherhood and all things girls and women’s rights started way before I became a mama, back in 2005 when I started working for a local Domestic Violence charity.

Over the last 19 years I have worked with women’s charities supporting women and children who have experienced and/or who are at risk of violence; supporting women in the community and in refuge. Developing and delivering training to healthcare professionals on all forms of violence against women and girls (VAWG), including the impact DV has on pregnant women and their babies/children.

In 2020 I became a mama for the first time welcoming our wildling earthside, where our world changed forever (as I am sure like many of you have experienced) as we navigated pregnancy, birth and the early years during covid, postpartum depression and anxiety, grief and life in general.

Since having wildling, my views on the importance of women-led and women centred support and care have strengthened, especially in postpartum when women navigate the transition into matrescence, a time still under-appreciated and un-supported by society (especially in western cultures)

With interventions on the rise, a maternal care system in a continual staffing crisis, and birth trauma increasing, understanding the power dynamics within the structures and the maternal care system has never been more critical when preparing for your birth and postpartum.

The Birth and Motherhood Collective draws on practices/tools of hypnobirthing and provides holistic support, which genuinely centres you by holding space with and for you as you prepare in your pre-conception, pregnancy, birth and mothering journeys.
